Full-time, Permanent; This job is located in Neepawa, MB.

About the job:

As a Brewer, you will take one of the leadership roles as part of the brewing production team to maintain and improve existing brewing workflows, maintain safe and clean working conditions, and overall brew excellent beer consistently.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the entire brewing and quality control processes
  • Extensive experience in scheduling, brewing, cellaring and packaging operations
  • Beer recipe development, with the possibility of spirit and other liquid recipe development
  • Manage raw materials including hops, inventory control, scheduling
  • Mastery and implementation of brewing production assistant software
  • Sanitary sampling, yeast cell counts and record keeping
  • Cellar operations including centrifuge, tank transfer, sanitation procedures
  • Beer evaluation, adherence to quality assurance and quality control procedures
  • Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Training of assistant brewers and interns
  • Coordinating with other departments to fulfill collaborative tasks and goals
  • Strong verbal communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Hands-on leadership skills for developing and training a team
  • Implementation and maintenance of safe operation procedures (SOP)
  • Participation in events, festivals, promotions, marketing when needed
  • Assist when needed on the farm and in the hopyard doing various farm labour tasks
  • Preparation of orders, loading and unloading distributor trucks when needed

Experience and Skills

  • Prior experience in a brewing production environment is mandatory
  • Formal education in brewing or food science
  • Stable work history
  • Ability to meet production schedules
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Ability to work in a non-temperature controlled environment,
  • Experience with proper handling of potentially hazardous materials
  • Aptitude for operating complex machinery
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, reach, stoop, lift, reach over shoulders, and perform repetitive motions without issue, and work with heavy/bulky items
  • Experience and ability or aptitude in operating a forklift
  • Ability to do basic math
  • Attention to detail
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to manage multiple processes at one time
  • Self-motivated with good time-management skills
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with a team
  • Flexible schedule with the possibility of working on Saturdays and Sundays

Brewer Helper

Part of our farm is our 20 acre hopyard with over 10 varieties of hops, which is expanding yearly. Job description:

As a Brewer Assistant, you will work as part of the production team to assist the brewers in the tasks needed to brew excellent beer and beverages, and maintain a clean & safe working environment.

This is the ideal job for those who want to get experience in the brewing industry at an entry level, with the goal of attaining on-site experience and skills.

We’re looking for 2 enthusiastic and committed individuals who can start part-time, with the intention to move to full-time.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning and sanitizing production equipment
  • Examining beer to verify conformity to quality standards
  • Measure and monitor production parameters for conformity, and notifying the supervisor of any malfunctions.
  • Meeting or exceeding all production goals on a consistent basis.
  • Wearing required Personal Protective Equipment(PPE), food safety gear, and follow SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) at all times
  • Filling beer into kegs. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and handle a filled keg
  • Continual lifting, dragging, carrying, and manipulating of hoses, parts, pumps, buckets, and reservoirs, requiring standing, walking, crouching, and lifting regularly throughout the duration of shift
  • General housekeeping of the brewhouse and fermentation area
  • Inventory control and reporting
  • assist when needed on the farm and in the hopyards doing various farm labour tasks

Food Concession Manager/Operator

Full-Time/Seasonal; Located in Neepawa, MB

Job Summary

The Food Concession Manager/Operator is responsible for managing food service operations within food truck. Manage food ordering, menu planning and development, hiring and training of new staff. Ensure all employees follow in house policies and procedures and meets with all food and safety requirements, as well as having excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations at food truck and commercial kitchen
  • Plan for and purchase food for daily operations
  • Maintain required records including food production, inventory, income/expense, meal counts and personnel records
  • Ensure food truck staff members follow proper sanitation procedures
  • Preside over food truck employees, including cooks, food preparers, cashiers, and other employees
  • Ensure safety standards are maintained while food is being cooked.
  • Prepare and serve the food
  • Respond to customer preferences and comments
  • Plan and budget for future meals
  • Maintain equipment including refrigerator, stove, prep table and cookware
  • Ensure recipes are followed to specs
  • Hire, recruit, and train employees
  • Deliver orders to appropriate customers
  • Direct the cleaning of the truck and commercial kitchen.

Tour/Guest Host

Full-time, Part-time, Casual; Seasonal; This position is located in Neepawa, MB.

Farmery Estate Brewery is a tourist destination where travelers from around the world drop in for a guided brewery, barley field and hopyard tour, to learn more about the Farmery brand and history, the beer making process, and of course to taste and take home Farmery beer!

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for making our guests experience the BEST it can be! Tasks you will be responsible for are:

  •  Warmly welcome all visitors and assist with various brewery tasks
  •  Be knowledgeable in all things Farmery from Farming to Beer
  •  Lead tours of the Brewery and/or Hop Yard for groups large and small
  •  Must be fluent in English
  • Confident speaking effectively to groups of people
  • Assist with customer service and store front duties
  • Respond to tour inquires in person, over phone and email
  • Implement and update tour management software protocols
  • Help coordinate events taking place at the brewery
