Farmery Estate Brewery is one of North America's first estate breweries, and consists of a brewery and family farm that grows ingredients for our beer such as barley and hops. Job description:
As Brewer, you will work as the key person part of the production team to achieve the tasks needed to brew excellent beer and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, be one of the key managers of the production facility, be part of the logistics team for successful shipping and receiving of products and ingredients, and maintain a clean & safe working environment.

This is a full-time position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • general management of production team to achieve tasks and goals
  • Meeting or exceeding all production goals on a consistent basis
  • Implementing HACCP standards in all workflows and for all equipment
  • Knowledge and usage of EKOS brewing software to plan and implement brews, maintain records, as well as order/manage inventory
  • Cleaning and sanitizing production equipment
  • Examining beer and products to verify conformity to quality standards
  • Measure and monitor production parameters for conformity, and notifying the supervisor of any malfunctions.
  • Monitoring & testing for microbial etc. growth in all equipment and systems
  • Wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), food safety gear, and follow SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) at all times
  • Filling beer into kegs. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and handle a filled keg
  • Continual lifting, dragging, carrying, and manipulating of hoses, parts, pumps, buckets, and reservoirs, requiring standing, walking, crouching, and lifting regularly throughout the duration of shift
  • General housekeeping of the brewhouse and fermentation area
  • Accurate inventory control and reporting
  • Participation in successful shipping and receiving of products and ingredients
  • Drive a forklift
  • Preparation of orders, loading and unloading distributor trucks
Experience and Skills:
  • Prior brewing experience in a production environment preferred
  • Knowledge of lab workflows; testing for and addressing microbial growth & issues
  • Knowledge of EKOS brewing software an asset
  • Knowledge and experience in HACCP workflows and implementation
  • Stable work history
  • Ability to meet production schedules
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Forklift, pallet jack, and other moving equipment experience
  • Delivery/shipping experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a non-temperature controlled environment,
  • Experience with proper handling of potentially hazardous materials
  • Aptitude for operating complex machinery
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, reach, stoop, lift, reach over shoulders, and perform repetitive motions without issue
  • Experience and ability or aptitude in operating a forklift
  • Ability to do math
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to manage multiple processes at one time
  • Self-motivated with good time-management skills
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with a team
Requirements:
  • Formal Brewing or Food Science education or college degree preferred, or equivalent industry experience (2+ years)
  • Knowledge and extensive experience in HACCP
  • Knowledge and experience with EKOS brewing software preferred
  • Ability to work and communicate well with staff and public
  • Flexible schedule with the possibility of working on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills in a brewing/manufacturing setting
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Flexible schedule: weekdays/ weeknights/ weekends/ holidays as required
