The Story of Manitoba Maple Lager & Festival Du Voyageur
Back in March 2019, I went with my brothers Lawrence and Eugene to one of the premiere global food shows in Japan called Japan FoodEx. Farmery has attended numerous international trade shows featuring our unique premium craft beer made with ingredients such as barley and hops grown on our family farm in Neepawa, Manitoba, and the opportunity to represent Manitoba and demonstrate our products to the world was an excellent one!
While we were there we got to experience Japanese culture and hospitality, and it was definitely a travel highlight in our lives so far! Visitors to the food show were super enthusiastic about our family farm and brewery, and we got to meet and network with lots of interesting people. One of the many exciting groups we got to meet was Alleghanys Maple Farms from Quebec! Our fellow tradeshow neighbors who were featuring their maple syrup. Keep this point in mind as it will feature later on in the story;)
Farmery Estate Brewery became one of the official craft beer sponsors for Festival du Voyageur in 2020. That year was a blast! We went to lots of the shows, and we were very proud to see our Pink Lemonale, Farmery Light, and Canadian Pale Ale Blonde enjoyed by festival-goers! Little did we know that it was just prior to the covid outbreak.
2021 was unfortunately a lost year and opportunity to enjoy one of Manitoba's premiere outdoor events. However, we did love watching Festival's live streams! They really pulled it together for their online event. This year 2022 was shaping up to be a go as well until Omicron hit, and Festival du Voyageur was again significantly pared down in terms of events offered.
However, this setback did not prevent Farmery from brewing a special beer for Festival du Voyageur! So you remember those gals from Quebec repping their maple syrup? We got in contact with them and they were happy to help us out in making our....Manitoba Maple Lager! The result is a fantastic 5% ABV beer lightly infused with authentic Quebecois maple syrup!
